1862 dress hoop

1862

This lady is wearing a dress of vertically striped material with a round, slightly high waist set off by a narrow belt. Her garment shows a new style of bishop sleeve, with the fullness gathered at the sleeve head and through the upper arm, balloooning out over her lower arm. The collars and cuffs have a decroative scalloped edge. The single skirt of her dress is decorated with two deep appliques of dark, plain material, and her skirt is displayed wearing a crinoline over hoop.
